About career
At the Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships in Colombo, Sindhu made her international debut, winning a bronze medal.
Sindhu’s first big recognition came from the 5th Servo All India Ranking Championship in the under-10 age group. She has won a doubles title in the sub-junior national and all-India rankings in Pune in the under-13 age group. She won a gold medal in the under-14 age group at the 51st National School Games in India.
She was runner-up at the 2010 Iran Fajr International Badminton Challenge. She also reached the semifinals of the 2010 Junior World Badminton Championships in Mexico.
She reached the final in October 2015, defeating three seeded players at the Danish Open, Tai Tzu-ying, Wang Yihan and Carolina Marin, but lost to defending champion Lee Zhuerui.
In 2017, she won the Indian Open Super Series and later won a silver medal at the BWF World Championships.
PV Sindhu has shown a great performance in Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The ace badminton player became India’s first female double Olympic medallist. She clinched Bronze for India after a straight-game win over world no.9 He Bing Jiao of China in the women’s singles third-place play-off in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Her biggest disappointment came when she lost to Sung Ji Hyun of Korea in the first round of the All England Open 2019.

P. V. Sindhu’s parents are both professional volleyball players, she picked badminton as her sport.
Sindhu’s elder sister, Divyaram Pusarla, was a national-level handball player who later became a doctar.
At age 17, she won the Asian Junior Championships.
