Controversy
- In 2017, his previous girlfriend Sunita Rajwar and Niharika Singh blamed him for falsifying facts in his autobiography – An Ordinary Life: A Memoir. He proclaimed to withdraw his book after getting heavy criticism, a few days after its release.
- Nawaz mentioned in his book that Sunita dumped him because he was not successful and wrongly portrayed her as someone ‘who drove Nawaz to think of committing suicide.’ A complaint against Nawaz was made with the National Commission for Women (NCW).
Niharika Singh’s advocate Gautam Gulti, on behalf of Niharika, lodged a complaint against Nawazuddin for ‘outgoing the modesty of the actress”. - In 2018, an F.I.R. lodged against Nawajuddin and the producer of the Netflix web series, Sacred Games, by Rajeev Sinha, a Congress politician. He blamed them for discrediting the former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, and also, for bringing down the level of Bollywood.
- In 2020, his wife Aaliya sent him a divorce notice. In the interview by Indian Express, Aaliya said that their marriage was troubled for the past decade and in lockdown, she gave the opportunity to end the marriage.
