Lal Bahadur Shastri was the second prime minister of India. Lal Bahadur Shastri was born on 2 October 1904, in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. His father was a teacher who died when he was a year and a half old. Shastri ji pursued his education at Harish Chandra High school and East Central Railway, an inter-college. He is best remembered for his slogan, ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’.He was greatly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts. This year marks the 57th death anniversary of Shastri. Lal Bahadur Shastri died on 11 January 1966 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, a day after the signing of the peace accord to end the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War.
