Over the last decade, many Malayalam movies have been showing their brilliance. With their excellent scripts and cast, the film has not only made money at the box office in Kerala but has also created a fan base in other states. 1. Ayyappanum Koshiyum

Ayyappanum Koshiyum revolves around the clash between Ayyappan (Biju Menon), a senior police officer who serves at the Attappadi police station and Havildar Koshi (Prithviraj Sukumaran), who comes to the village with a motive. Ayyapan Nair is an upright police officer and Koshiy Kurian is politically well-connected. The twist in the tale occurs when their egos clash, neither willing to give up.

2. Trance

Trance is a 2020 Indian movie directed by Anwar Rasheed starring Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim, Dileesh Pothan and Gautham Vasudev Menon. The feature film is produced by Anwar Rasheed and the music composed by Jackson Vijayan. The film is a huge hit, and is still running in Chennai and Bengaluru, five weeks after its release. Similarly Prithviraj’s Ayyappanum Koshiyum and Dulquer Salmaan-starrer Varane Avashyamund had delayed their release outside Kerala release, and both were hits.

A real life account of the deadly Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala, and the courageous fight put on by several individuals which helped to contain the epidemic. Directed by Aashiq Abu, the film stars Kunchacko Boban, Parvathy, Indrajith Sukumaran, Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas and Rima Kallingal in pivotal roles.

4. Helen

Helen is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language survival thriller film directed by Mathukutty Xavier (in his directorial debut) and produced by Vineeth Sreenivasan under the companies Habit of Life and Big Bang Entertainments. Helen is a young, ambitious nursing graduate who is all set to migrate to Canada. She is raised by her loving father Paul (Lal) after the demise of her mother.

5. Kumbalangi Nights

The film revolves around four brothers who share a love-hate relationship with each other. Their relationship progresses to another level when Saji, Boney, and Franky decide to help Bobby stand by his love.

6. Unda

Unda is one of the best-written films in Malayalam cinema. It is not just a film about a group of naive policemen from Kerala grappling with the challenges of an unknown territory. The actual story lies in the subtext, which never stops reminding us about the innate flaw of the human race: one tries to assume a sense of superiority by dominating or looking down on the other.

7. Jallikattu

The film revolves around a buffalo that escapes the butcher and ends up causing a lot of destruction. The whole village rallies to capture the beast but ends up splitting up into groups that become hostile towards each other, resulting in chaos and violence.

Android Kunjappan version 5.25 is an untold story of relationships, family and love told through an AI humanoid. The father-son duo played respectively by Suraj Venjaramoodu and Soubin Shahir, gets an endearing twist when an AI humanoid enters their lives and fills in their emptiness.
